  2. The NC State University SWE Chapter has been very busy planning our 3rd Mr. Engineer SWE Pageant which will take place January 22, 2012 from 7 pm-9 pm at NCSU’s Stewart Theatre in the Talley Student Center! This is completely planned by our SWE chapter officers and is open to the public. We began by opening the application to all undergraduate male engineers at NCSU to apply for the pageant. As officers, we then select a male contestant to represent each engineering discipline. We also select a panel of distinguished judges (school administrator, 2 students, and an industry rep) to judge.

This Sunday 10 male engineers will compete for the title of Mr. Engineer 2012. They will compete in a profession attire (an outfit that represents their major, such as Mr. Electrical Engineer wrapped himself in lights), a talent round, and an interview question round. SWE members serve as escorts for the male contestants and ushers. We reward a “People’s Choice” (the audience vote), 2nd runner up, 1st runner up, and Mr. Engineer. Winners are awarded with medals, flowers, gift cards, and Mr. Engineer also receives a sash, crown, trophy, and of course, bragging rights. :)

We also have received gracious donations from companies for prizes to raffle such as an iPod Touch from Tekelec, miniVideo Recorder from Cisco, and other various prizes sponsored by Intel. ‘

Most importantly, all ticket sales and raffle sales raised from the event will be donated to Relay for Life. We are very excited about hosting a fun event that everyone can enjoy but at the same time for a great cause.

    NCSU SWE Chapter Co-President
